Tips For Sharing Your Videos With Your Network

Producing a video can take a lot of effort. There’s the scripting component, presenting to the camera, shooting, and editing. After all the hard work, how will your audience find your content?

This week we share a few tips to help you think through your publishing strategy.

Step 1: Understand Your Audience

Do you understand who your target audience is? That is, who your video would appeal to? If you have not yet done this work, consider learning about the “customer journey”: this is a concept that is routinely used in marketing. Do your research to understand who the target audience is for your video.

When you have a better understanding of who your audience is, you can start to consider where they spend their time.

Step 2: Compare Platforms

Once you understand who your target audience is, review the various platforms they may spend their time on. Make a list of all the platforms you think your target audience uses, and log into them so that you can figure out whether your target audience is using these platforms, and how. Make notes in this list: comparing how your target audience uses these platforms (if at all), and what kind of video content they engage with.
