Quantum Symposium: Q5

Client

The Centre for International Security Studies at the University of Sydney. This project has been generously funded by the Carnegie Corporation New York.

Brief

To provide all AV for the symposium at the Quarantine Station in Sydney; to shoot and edit greenroom interviews with attendees; to shoot and edit every panel discussion; and to produce a highlight reel that would serve both as archival footage, and as promotional material for the upcoming symposium. The event brought together a range of guests from academia, industry and government from around the world to discuss the implications of a world where quantum computing is live. This particular conference had a focus on computing, communication, control and intelligence in the age of quantum technologies.

Audience

Academics interested in quantum technologies and their implications for society.

Solution

We collaborated very closely with the client to understand their needs prior to the conference, and also afterwards to ensure that the edits were the best representation of the attendees’ particular areas of expertise. For the conference itself, our dedicated crew set up multiple cameras and locations so that interviews could occur during the short breaks during the conference. We also provided drone (UAV) footage to capture the arrival of the participants at the very special location that is the quarantine station in Sydney.

The highlight reel was edited in very close collaboration with the client with the goals of being informative, thought-provoking and representational of the panels and ideas discussed during the conference.

Result

The client and participants were very happy with the quality and variety of footage we shot and edited. By using multiple setups, the footage has been successfully edited into a variety of clips that have been used to market the conference and the attendees’ ideas across a range of platforms. In addition, some of the footage will be edited into a feature-length documentary.
