When we meet someone who is interested in producing video content, one of the first steps is to have them complete this briefing document. The document contains a range of questions that help us better understand what it is that your organisation wishes to achieve with the video, and in practical terms, how the video would look and feel once complete. Once we have this detailed information we can draft a production plan along with a quote for implementing that plan. The more accurate and detailed the information you provide, the simpler the process of providing the quote and the more accurate it will be.
Although completion of the brief may be difficult when your idea for the content is only rough, it encourages you to really start thinking about what it is that you want to produce. By delving deeper into the idea, you can better articulate what it is that you wish to achieve, and this helps us immensely when drafting a quote.
Drafting a quote can be very time consuming, and in some cases can take a few hours. When we draft a quote we consider aspects such as: how many cameras would be best suited for the project; does the video require narration; how many microphones would be required and what kind; how much editing would be needed; would any digital compositing be needed; is the idea already well-formed or does the concept need more fleshing out; and what timelines would we be working towards.
Once we have this information – or as much information as you can muster – we provide a detailed quote (sometimes with options), with a detailed explanation of how we arrived at the quote figure. Because we take such a detailed approach to quoting, our quotes are always based on a range of assumptions that together, form the basis of the production plan. Hence our quotes can always be amended if a particular aspect in the assumptions changes.
Contact us today if you have an idea that you want to shape into a completed video – we are always happy to talk through ideas and provide some advice.
