3 Tips To Improve Your Video’s Splash Rate!

Tip 1: Customer Journey

The “Customer Journey” is a well-established exercise used by marketers. In essence, it involves mapping out the journey that your ideal customer (or target audience) takes: from how they first find out about you, to their first contact with you, to working with you.

Answer these questions:
• Who is the target audience for your video?
• What journey do they take, from first finding out about you to working with you?
• Where does your video fit in this journey?

For example, if your target audience first finds out about you through a search in Twitter, consider sharing your video on Twitter using the search terms that your target audience is using.

Tip 2: Understand Your Socials

Does your target audience interact on social media? If so, what platforms do they use the most, and how do they use them?

Spend some time to learn how they engage on the platform, and find out how the platform ranks video content.

For example, if your target audience uses Facebook regularly, the next thing to do is find out how Facebook ranks video content. Currently, Facebook’s algorithm prefers video that is uploaded directly to Facebook rather than linked from another site. This means that more people will see your video if it is uploaded directly to Facebook rather than linked from YouTube.

Tip 3: Collaborate

Think about your video’s target audience, and whether you have colleagues or collaborators in your network who have a similar audience. Get in touch with them and find out if they are interested in sharing your video content with their audience.

Speaking of networks, we will be holding regular, free networking events to connect people involved in research impact. To find out more send us a quick email and we’ll send you the registration link.
